Sports hall structure

Base releases turnkey sports hall range in Sprung Structures partnership

Tensile specialist, Base Structures, has now unveiled a turnkey membrane sports hall structure that costs a fraction of traditional alternatives and offers exceptional energy saving capabilities.

The standardised modular structure comprises a stressed membrane structure and interior which can be adapted to suit the buyer with changing rooms and a mezzanine floor for example.

Originally developed by Sprung Structures, this stressed membrane structure is the most technically advanced of its type anywhere in the world, combining fast erection sequences with superior thermal qualities.

This product follows an earlier release this year where the partners, Base and Sprung Structures, released an off-the-shelf model for the Priority Schools Building Programme.

The sports hall structure is available in a standard, pre-designed footprint but can be adapted for different sites including reversing the layout, expanding the footprint and cladding options. It also offers the following exceptional qualities:

• Up to 35% cheaper than traditional construction options
• Fully compliant with EFA baseline designs
• In excess of 20 years’ warranty
• ‘Excellent’ BREEAM rating
• An impressive 8 week build programme
• Engineered to withstand wind and snow loads
• Standard option but with flexibility

“We’re really excited with our pace of innovation with structures for the educational marketplace where cost is critical as is function,” said John Dalton, managing director at Base Structures. “We always ticked both those boxes but now the programme is even easier as we have all the expertise in place to deliver both the interior and the exterior at a compelling price point.”
